Duck Lake

ERO Resources Corporation (ERO) has been contracted by Denver Parks and Recreation for habitat restoration and improvement of the island in the middle of Duck Lake at City Park. On March 29, 2024, our team visited the island to gather essential data for the restoration project. The studies will help inform how best to improve the island for the long-term enhancement of habitat for colonial nesting double-crested cormorants.

ERO installed a groundwater monitor to track water levels and quality, collected soil samples to analyze the island’s health and assessed the condition of existing trees. This information will guide restoration efforts, which include planting native vegetation, securing existing nest trees, and installing new nest structures.

Stay tuned for updates as we continue to make progress on this exciting project.
