ERO worked with Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) to develop a master plan for the new 19,200-acre Fishers Peak State Park near Trinidad. This rugged landscape includes high mesas, desert canyons, and dense forests that provide habitat for several sensitive wildlife species. ERO has been involved in all aspects of the planning process, including environmental planning, recreation planning, trail system design, and tribal engagement. The master plan, completed in 2022, is the result of extensive field reconnaissance, resource review, and stakeholder engagement to provide high-quality outdoor recreation opportunities while protecting sensitive wildlife habitat. ERO is currently assisting CPW with ongoing implementation phases, which includes trail design, trail construction oversight, cultural resource surveys, tribal engagement, and environmental permitting coordination with the Colorado Department of Transportation and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
