Garth Smith has over twelve years of experience as a GIS specialist for environmental impact analysis and map production, as well as developing stand-alone GIS products. His software skills include Microsoft Office, Microstation, AutoCAD and ESRI’s suite of GIS products, including Arc Macro and Avenue programming languages. Garth also has provided technical writing on various environmental documents and permits.

SUMMARY OF EXPERIENCE

NEPA Compliance. Garth has provided GIS mapping and analytical support for environmental impact statements and environmental assessments. His NEPA experience includes impact analysis for natural gas drilling, natural gas pipeline expansion and railroad construction and expansion.

Threatened and Endangered Species. Garth has extensive experience mapping and analyzing habitat and potential habitat for threatened and endangered species including potential habitat for the reintroduction of endangered species. Garth also has provided GIS support for biological assessments and biological evaluations.

Environmental Resources Assessments. Garth has provided GIS support and technical writing on federal, state and local environmental permits and documents for natural gas pipeline expansion in Washington and California. Garth also has experience analyzing impacts to wetlands, vegetation, soils, water, wildlife and cultural resources.

Geographic Information Systems. Garth uses GIS as a support tool to create, analyze and map geospatial data. Additionally, Garth has designed, developed and implemented stand-alone geographic information systems.
