Douglas County Regional Habitat Conservation Plan

ERO assisted Douglas County and the Towns of Castle Rock, Larkspur, and Parker in developing a Regional Habitat Conservation Plan (HCP). ERO was responsible for all phases of the project including habitat mapping, participation in public meetings, coordination with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and preparation of the HCP.

Urban Drainage and Flood Control

ERO has held the Urban Drainage and Flood Control District’s annual environmental services contract for six years. Services are typically focused on obtaining U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Section 404 permitting for projects, and include assessments/surveys for threatened and endangered species, wetland delineations, application preparation, and mitigation design and monitoring. Additional services may include revegetation/restoration plans and construction observation.

75th Street Raw Water Line

Because of the sensitive environmental resources along this pipeline, ERO worked with the City of Lafayette, Boulder County, project engineers, landowners, and regulatory agencies to develop an innovative design and implementation plan. The plan allowed for efficient construction while minimizing impacts to sensitive environmental resources such as Ute ladies’-tresses orchids and bald eagles. ERO delineated wetlands and obtained a Section 404 permit, surveyed for endangered and rare plants, assessed water resources, developed wetland mitigation and habitat restoration plans, and performed environmental oversight during construction.

C-470 Environmental Assessment

ERO conducted natural resource inventories and impact assessments for the C-470 corridor for the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT). ERO conducted field studies and prepared technical reports for wetlands, threatened and endangered plant and animal species, vegetation communities, migratory birds, and wildlife. The project required coordination with CDOT, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Prairie Waters Project

This project is the City of Aurora's near-term solution for a new water supply and consists of a 34-mile pipeline, a new water purification plant, and a water campus. Environmental issues include environmental permitting, environmental site assessment, and coordination with federal agencies. ERO led the effort to allow the project to proceed without federal actions (and associated NEPA requirements), and acquired the federal agencies' verification that federal actions would not be required.
